Scalable, flexible, powerful and compact
The SINGLEstream SS-G6C4C4S multi-link copper tap is a compact and flexible solution for tapping, aggregating and distributing data from multiple sources to monitoring tools. It is a multi-link tap that can tap 6 copper 10/100/1000 links. The SFP+ ports can be used as 10G copper or fiber links and can serve as additional monitor ports. DAC (Direct Attach Cables) are supported.
Aggregation introduces the risk of excessive subscription, resulting in packet loss - even for 1G sources sent to 10G tools. Hardware-based L2 to L4 filtering allows users to filter and select only specific traffic.
Aggregation and replication
Any-to-any functionality enables aggregation to individual tools as well as replication to multiple tools. Each monitor port can be used as an input or output. The 10G connections minimize the risk of packet loss between systems when a mesh configuration is used.
Session-based load balancing allows multiple ingress ports to be evenly distributed across multiple egress ports. If a tool capture NIC fails, traffic is automatically redistributed to the remaining ingress ports.
This product is also available as model SS-G4C4S - a 4-link tap with 12 monitor ports, or as model SS-G8C4S - an 8-link tap with 4 monitor ports. Other solutions based on this chassis include a 20-port Network Packet Broker, as well as single, dual and quad link bypass switches for inline tool protection.
An sFlow agent can be configured on the SS-G6C4C4S. This agent samples network traffic and creates sFlow datagrams. The sample datagrams are then forwarded to an "sFlow Collector" elsewhere on the network. The collector can send the data to an 'sFlow Analyzer'. The SS-G6C4C4S as a central node through which data from multiple connections pass makes it an optimal node for enabling the 'sFlow Agent' to send sFlow datagrams from multiple network devices to the Collector.
Optional IPFIX support
The SINGLEstream SS-G6C4C4S can act as an IPFIX observation point, use IPFIX metering process to collect data packets, optionally filter them and aggregates information about these packets. It also works as an IPFIX exporter, and becomes a monitoring domain with other monitoring points. This information is then sent to an IPFIX collector via the IPFIX protocol.
